The 2016 Tasmanian eco Film Festival is pleased to be announcing an Eco Art Competition and Exhibition as part of this year’s festival.
Open to all emerging artists in Tasmania, the Eco Art Competition will be judged by four Tasmanian Award- winning artists; Alyce Bailey, Nicholas Blowers (2016 Glover Prize winner), Linda Keough & Helen Wright.
These well-known artists are also creating original pieces of art, to the same contest guidelines, that will be exhibited next to the winning pieces.
The competition guidelines have been drawn from one of the films set to be screened at the festival this November.
Kyia Clayton, director of TeFF said, “We are inviting artists to create a piece of art that speaks to the Charles Darwin quote ‘It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change’, as the global environment continues to evolve through nature and man’s doing, we are going to be challenged to change many aspects of the way we live in order to survive”.
The prizes are a $500 Artery gift card, $250 Entrepot Art products gift card and a 3 hour Penicott Wilderness Cruise.
Guy Abrahams, CEO & Co Founder of CLIMARTE in Melbourne will open the exhibition, with drinks and nibbles, at Room for a Pony in North Hobart on Tuesday, November 15th at 5.30pm.
Details about this competition and registration can be found on the TeFF website www.tassieff.com. Art works need to be submitted no later than November 10th for consideration. Registration is required.
The art pieces will be on exhibition at Room for a Pony from Tuesday, November 15- Sunday, November 20th. These pieces will also be available for purchase.
TeFF is an eco-themed, apolitical film festival offering a combination of high-art eco films and VIP events held at various venues across Hobart. The full festival will be launching on October 6th.
The Tasmanian Conservation Trust, Inc. is the founding sponsor of TeFF.
