Andrew Nikolic
A letter obtained by the ABC shows an independent Launceston MP is embroiled in a spat with the Tasmanian Liberal Party director over the crushing electoral defeat of Andrew Nikolic.
In the letter, Launceston MP Rosemary Armitage said the Liberals’ director Sam McQuestin blamed her in part for Mr Nikolic’s defeat in Bass.
Ms Armitage held a press conference during the campaign to voice concerns about the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).
In the letter she said she was “extremely disappointed” with the attempt to blame her for the double-digit swing to Labor.
“I am extremely disappointed with your attempt to place blame on me for Andrew Nikolic’s unfortunate loss. Andrew being someone for whom I have a lot of respect.”
“I am further disappointed you are attempting to criticise me for my concern for our public hospital system which I have spoken about often.
“I believe any fair-minded observer would regard your comments as not only false and irresponsible, but far-fetched.”
