As part of the ABC Friends National Campaign to encourage the electorate to vote for candidates supporting the ABC and a restoration of its funding, ABC Friends Launceston are holding a Candidates Forum “What future for the ABC”

The Forum will be held in Launceston on Saturday June 18th at the Pilgrim Uniting Church Patterson St commencing at 1.00pm.

Candidates for Bass and Braddon have been invited to attend.

With a renewed vigour thanks to an increase in membership and donations, and with the help of high-profile supporters, the ABC Friends campaign is designed to encourage the electorate to vote for any candidate supporting the ABC and a restoration of its funding.

“Although ABC funding hasn’t raised an eyebrow so far this election, we’re throwing everything we have at changing public opinion because we see this as a crucial election for the national broadcaster,” said Ranald Macdonald, ABC Friends Spokesman and former Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of The Age.

The Forum is open to the public including the many hundreds of ABC listeners in Bass.
