Friday Nights Live, the Moonah Arts Centre’s regular concert series kicks off this Friday, June 3, with the with the unique performance sound of Hobart outfit, Citizen Shrapnel and the Lords of Little Egypt.
Navigating the spaces between darkness and light, the Lords of Little Egypt weave a sinuous web of rhythm and melody around Citizen Shrapnel’s thoughtful & incisive lyrics.
This concert performance, while being totally contemporary, draws on the traditions of Chanson and the music halls of Europe. Vocalist Michael Shrapnel is accompanied by some of Hobart’s finest seasoned musicians, with David McNamara on acoustic piano, Russell Dobie on double bass and Sean Brady on drums.
Friday Nights Live is Moonah Arts Centre’s premier contemporary music series, bringing a diverse range of mainly local Tasmanian musicians to the stage in what many consider Tasmania’s best acoustic small performance space. Relaxed, informal and celebrating fine musicianship, Friday Nights Live is a great place to enjoy live music with a relaxing drink to kick off your weekend.
