The Tasmanian Greens are thrilled to announce that Jen Brown will be the party’s candidate for the Division of Denison at the upcoming federal election.

Mrs Brown, of Hobart, is an experienced nurse and public health consultant with more than a decade of experience in Tasmania and overseas. She is currently working for a non-government organisation to reduce violence against women in Papua New Guinea.

The mother of two is also a distance runner who last year raised more than $15,000 for the Climate Council with a 160-kilometre run through the Tasmanian South West Wilderness.

Mrs Brown is now in the final stages of a law degree and will major in health and international law.

“I’m honoured to represent the Greens as their candidate for Denison” Mrs Brown said.

“I look forward to meeting as many people as I can over the coming months, to hear their stories and share with them the Greens’ vision of a smarter, brighter future for Tasmania.”

“As a mother of 2 and a member of the Greens I want to see a more compassionate approach to asylum seekers, real action to deal with climate change, and to push towards renewable energy.”

Greens Party Convenor Kay McFarlane said:

“I’m pleased to present a Candidate who is a leader in her own right. She will be a strong representative for Denison, with a real history of action on the ground,” Ms McFarlane said.

Greens Senator for Tasmania Nick McKim said:

“Jen, like all our candidates has a strong track record of taking action and is passionate about our Green vision,” Senator McKim said.
