Glamorgan Spring Bay Council has this afternoon re-opened Muirs Beach in Coles Bay.
Water testing carried out this week has returned results that indicate the water quality at Muirs Beach is now once again safe for people to swim and undertake normal recreational use.
Precautionary testing last week indicated that the beach needed to be closed due to some effluent contamination in the water, which has now been completely resolved.
Mayor Michael Kent said “Muirs Beach at Coles Bay has now been given the all clear based on the most recent water testing and I am pleased to say that the community and visitors are now free to use the beach for normal recreational purposes. Our main priority has been the safety and health of potential users and I’m pleased to say that the systems we have in place to detect problems such as this are working well and the beach is back to a healthy level of water quality so that everyone can get on with enjoying such a wonderful natural asset as Muirs Beach.
I would like to thank the community and visitors for their patience and understanding during the closure.”
