Christopher Coleman Collective will celebrate the release of ‘December’ with performances in Tasmania at the Republic Bar and Longley International, Melbourne’s the Grace Darling Hotel and Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar in a co-headline single launch with Jim Lawrie.
The new track, to be released as a double-a side on November 16th, continues Christopher’s recording sprees in international locations with ‘December’ recorded in Nashville with American singer-songwriter and producer Neilson Hubbard.
As Christopher describes the making of the song, “the melody for December came through the inheritance of my great aunts piano, a dusty German treasure. I was in Hobart and it was winter. A week later it was summer in Nashville and I found the words on a back porch of the studio. Neilson Hubbard tightened its laces and we recorded it the next morning with his band. We played it three times and picked the second take.”
For this upcoming tour, the Collective is made up of an all Hobart cast – Michael Panton on lead guitar, Liam O’Leary on drums, Jonno Coleman on guitar/backing vocals and Randal Muir on hammond organ.
In 18 months since releasing his self-titled debut album, Coleman and his Collective have toured nationally and internationally to New Zealand and the US, along the way playing the stages of Port Fairy Folk Festival, the Spiegeltent, Queenscliff Folk Festival, Tamworth Music Festival, Americana Music Festival, Falls Festival and the National Folk Festival.
