A disturbing understanding ... 4

The first week of my new job working in the Aboriginal community of the Fitzroy Valley of WA has proved to open my heart to a new, but disturbing understanding of our beautiful country Australia …

So far the government has forcibly “closed” one Aboriginal community of The Kimberley of approx 50 Aboriginals. The method employed consists of firstly cutting the power, then the plumbing to the government housing; the welfare these people’s lives depend on.

The Aboriginals are then forced to disperse out and wander into the nearest community or township to find a new home and community. The government housing is then bulldozed as though it never existed to begin with.

This is the biggest threat to the Indigenous people since the shocking events of the 1960s. This is point-blank genocide with devastating consequences among the affected populations of the Fitzroy Valley.

This is very real and is happening now in our very own country.

I am humbled to hold a unique opportunity here to help create change, yet also ashamed & disgusted to witness the level of prejudice against our Indigenous Australians.

They hold the right to live in and on their traditional country, for which they have ancient and deep responsibilities.

The Abbott government is, in my opinion, pure racist prejudiced evil.
