Exhibition: Ilona Schneider, Solastalgia @ LARQ Gallery, Queenstown (Tasmania)

This exhibition shows the latest work by photographer Ilona Schneider. Her project on Solastalgia aims at elucidating the Tasmanian landscape as a historical dwelling place, written by nature and human ingenuity alike.

Her photographic prints reveal the human effort to find, build, and maintain a home in Tasmania, as well as the tenacious struggle to hold on to it in the face of adversity, distress, defeat, and loss.

Schneider’s photographic work is an original development of the man-altered landscape photography by the Düsseldorf School in Germany, applied to the unique historical landscape in Tasmania.
