Malcolm Turnbull’s trip to Tasmania has proven Will Hodgman achieved absolutely nothing on his much vaunted dash to Sydney during the election campaign.
The Shadow Minister for IT and Innovation, Madeleine Ogilvie, says the Premier has obviously failed to secure a good deal for Tasmanians.
“Will Hodgman came back from Sydney claiming a big win on NBN funding for Tasmania but it’s amounted to absolutely nothing,” Ms Ogilvie said.
“Malcolm Turnbull has been less than honest. Before the Federal election he promised that all contracts would be honoured.
“No matter what Mr Turnbull says, he is now promoting a second class broadband network.
“Households and businesses alike have been denied the economic and social opportunities that come from superfast broadband. It is not good enough.
“With places like Devonport not even on the map, how can Tasmanians possibly believe they will get a good outcome.
“The Federal Liberals have broken a key election promise and the Premier should be embarrassed about how little he achieved for the state.
“What’s happened to the ‘fibre over power lines’ trial?
“I want to see every person, every household, every small and big business get NBN connection as promised. That’s what matters. I will keep the heat on Hodgman and Turnbull until they deliver.”
