Well after all the huffing and puffing the final tally for the Derwent Valley Community Card stands at $3595.24.
We, who have donated should be chuffed with the result.
The last $595.24 we donated without any signs in woolworths
This means woolworths will issue $3500 into $500 wishcards and these wishcards will then be given to Andrew the New Norfolk woolworths manager to be transferred into 70 $50 grocery only vouchers and immediately given to New Norfolk St Vincent de Paul to be given out to
1. Residents only of the Derwent Valley Municipality
2. No discrimination to religion
3. Recipent does not need to be on welfare.
Last year vinnies New Norfolk gave $12500 with this same criteria.
If you’re struggling for groceries phone Janelle Kava at Vinnies in Hobart she will give you a code and fax it to New Norfolk then present with the code and you will be handed a $50 grocery only card to buy food.
I have tried my level best to add points to this card even taking on Woolworths for taking down signage…but guess what? As of today the Derwent Valley Community stands at $95.24 towards next year!!!
