Dear Sue.
I voted for you recently simply because Damon said no to this idea at a mayors conference.
Last year I passed on an idea to New Norfolk mayor Martyn Evans to set up a community card at the New Norfolk woolworths store.
New Norfolk is a very poor community as there is a high demographic of pension card holders.
Martyn went to woolworths filled out a form and called it the Derwent Valley Community Card. Simple.
When shoppers go through checkouts there were signs to advise they could donate their frequent shopper points to help people in need in the DV.
The points have accrued and cut off for this year is close of business today.
Any voucher over $500 is sent as a wish card. DVCCard currently stands at $3590.96.
We will then take our 70 wish cards and exchange them at the local woolworths for $50 grocery only vouchers and donate them to New Norfolk St Vincent de Paul who last financial year gave $12500 to DV residents as $50 grocery only vouchers.
It’s that easy.
Donations are being given to Vinnies simply because they give woolworths vouchers.
Salvation army gives Coles vouchers.
I gave you my vote because you told me you would make a difference. Please make that difference …
