The Liberal Government has a long term Plan to grow the economy to create jobs and we are continuing to see positive signs which show our Plan is working.

The latest ABS building approval figures show that confidence is returning to the Tasmanian economy, with 176 new dwellings approved in September.

Including non-residential construction, the year to date value of all building approvals has reached $1.257 billion, a 23.2 per cent increase on the same time last year.

These are positive figures that point to a growing economy and demonstrate that Tasmanians have renewed confidence to invest after the election of a majority Liberal Government in March.

The Liberal Government is backing the building industry, which employs around 17,500 Tasmanians, through policies such as cutting red tape, fixing outdated building regulations, reforming the planning system and extending the First Home Builder Boost.

We are getting on with the job of growing the economy to create jobs, and today’s figures are an encouraging sign that we headed in the right direction.
