Ivan Dean was successful in putting up SaveOurSolarTas.org’s motion to request the new Government to fully address the feed-in issue to bring equity to the feed-in rate, Mr John Thirgood of SOST says.
The previous government was heavily influenced by bad Treasury maths and data and a bias against a fair FITR rate; plus the impending sale of the Aurora book further overshadowed a balanced decision that went against solar owners and the solar industry that has seen up to a 95% downturn in domestic solar installations across Tasmania; resulting is business stress and some 400 jobs affected … either lost or under threat.
The Liberal Government is avoiding this vital issue for jobs and investment and all be it at no cost to the Energy providers and a loss of some $4 million dollars in GST revenues to the state coffers.
