To whom it may concern …

27th October 2014

As secretary for Tasmanian Regional Arts, Kentish, (TRAK), I am writing on behalf of our Sheffield branch. Even before we received a generous grant from TTCF this year, we were fully supportive of the organisation and the means it provides to regional groups in helping them with their involvement in community activities, in ways that would otherwise be impossible.

The grant we received was to design and construct a mosaic pathway, featuring Tasmanian flora and fauna, through King George V Park in Sheffield. This was formerly a burial ground, and the people interred there will be named in designated areas of the pathway. Local clubs and businesses, Sheffield High School students, the Kentish Council and many members of the local community are involved in this project. Not only are we learning new skills, but they are being done in a supportive and constructive way. The pathway will also give a feeling of “ownership” to all the volunteers and to family members whose ancestors lie there.

Because of the amount of money involved in allocating this resource, we firmly believe that the current board, with its dedicated and professional members, be retained.

Yours sincerely,

Nita Pountney (Sec. TRAK)
