The Liberal Government is a strong supporter of Tasmanians with a disability.
Today I am very pleased to welcome six new members to the Minister’s Disability Advisory Committee.
The Minister’s Disability Advisory Committee (MDAC) provides a perspective of people living with disability, family members and disability support providers on service planning, design and quality issues.
The six new members joining the Committee are Kate Ross, Nick Baily, Helen Zournazis, Maree McCulloch, Barbara Hingston and Garry Sims. Chris Van Essen has been re-appointed for another term, as has David Cawthorn who will continue as Chair.
They will be joined on the Committee by continuing members Natasha Street, Kelly Bolch, Jenny Branch-Allen and Jayson Semmens.
The new members bring extensive experience and knowledge of living with a disability or working with people with a disability.
I would like to thank Committee members who have completed their terms – Belinda Smith, Glenda Radcliffe, Fiona Redgrove and Kim Hambly – for their important and generous contribution to the Committee.
The Minister’s Disability Advisory Committee will hold a public forum in early December where members of the public, people with disability, family and carers are invited to meet the Committee and raise issues relating to specialist disability services and supports.
As a government we are committed to providing services and support for Tasmanians with a disability.
Over the next four years we are investing $58.45 million in initiatives to support Tasmanians with a disability, including the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
