Labor Leader Bryan Green says the Liberal Government is becoming less believable by the day.
“Does Peter Gutwein really expect Tasmanians to believe his government has done more for Tasmania than Labor did in 16 years,” Mr Green said.
“I’ve heard some arrogant claims during my time in politics but that takes the cake.
“No wonder Tasmanians are very worried about the direction this government is heading because it is now clear they can’t be trusted or believed.
“Tasmania was a very different place when Jim Bacon came to power in 1998.
“When the Liberal Party left office the unemployment rate was 10.1%, at one stage under Ray Groom it reached 13%.
“Under Labor, unemployment fell to 4.1% in 2008, prior to the global financial crisis hitting.
“Peter Gutwein could do with a dose of humility.
“His arrogant and unfounded bragging is disrespectful to anyone who has worked hard to make Tasmania a better place to work and live.
The Treasurer’s press release also includes this claim:
We’ve created 3,400 jobs, the unemployment rate has dropped and the participation rate has gone up.
“What has the Liberal Government directly done to “create” jobs?,” Mr Green said.
“Tasmania’s economy is steadily improving and has been since mid-2013, for Peter Gutwein to now take all the credit is breathtaking.
“The Liberals’ first 200 days in office have been riddled with incompetence, highlighted by an inability to get legislation through the parliament.
“The Government is becoming increasingly untrustworthy.”
