Opposition Leader Bryan Green’s attack on the office of the Coordinator-General being located in Launceston is typical of Labor’s disregard for the north of Tasmania.
It follows on his refusal during the election campaign to support our Plan to move Mineral Resources Tasmania to the North West Coast.
During Budget Estimates today Mr Green bizarrely took issue with the Coordinator-General being located in Launceston.
The clear premise of Mr Green’s question is that government services should only be located in Hobart – a strange view from a Member for Braddon who clearly doesn’t leave Hobart enough.
Mr Green was supported by Greens MP Cassy O’Connor in attacking the Launceston location as well as the relocation of Mineral Resources Tasmania to Burnie.
The former Labor-Green Government abandoned regional areas and were punished at the election. It is unfortunate that rather than learning from this they continue to ignore the needs of regional areas and Northern Tasmania.
