Artists are invited to share their personal perspectives of North West Tasmania through the 2015 University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Campus Arts Residency.
The residency is open to artists working in visual artists, design, craft, performing arts and literature.
Now in its fifth year, the residency offers local, national and international artists up to $5000 for arts projects with relevance to the North-west Tasmanian community:
• Cultural and industrial heritage
• Relationship with regional landscapes and communities
• Emerging industries and research
University of Tasmania Residency Coordinator Joanna Gair said that the Cradle Coast Campus Arts Residency provides a flexible opportunity for artists to produce new work, plus a range of opportunities for them to engage with the local community.
“Our previous residency participants have become involved with the North West community through workshops, school visits and open studios on campus,” Ms Gair said.
“The artists get to spend a month producing work of community relevance in one of the most interesting and artistically inspiring parts of Tasmania.”
The grant is provided to support travel, accommodation, living expenses and the production of work, up to a maximum of four weeks.
Artists may choose to work from the university campus, Makers Workshop or at a self-initiated location within the region.
