In the upcoming budget we will keep our promises, fix the budget mess and lay the foundations for the future.
We committed to a $1 million Business District Revitalisation Fund for the greater Hobart area, including the Northern Suburbs, to create jobs, grow the local economy and improve our public places.
This commitment will be delivered in the state budget when it is handed down later this month.
The Fund will allow the Glenorchy and Hobart City Councils to undertake upgrades to public spaces in their business districts.
The Liberal Government is committed to helping Tasmanian businesses create jobs. It is important that our business districts and shopping areas present a welcoming and attractive environment for shoppers and visitors.
Retail growth has rebounded strongly since the election of a majority Liberal Government and this Fund will help the Glenorchy and Hobart City Councils to continue attracting more people to their shopping precincts.
By working with local government, our investment will mean improved public spaces, which will help drive visitation to our business districts and generate economic growth.
The $1 million investment will also deliver fantastic public spaces for the community to enjoy.
