Hobart residents can expect some intriguing discussion when Ian Paulin, regular guest on ABC Northern Tasmania, leads a discussion on Australia’s asylum seeker policies at The New Sydney Pub on 12 August.

Philosophy in the Pub that night will focus on the philosophy of human rights and the ethical challenges of Australia’s policies relating to asylum seekers.

“This event is an opportunity to explore the plight of refugees within the wider context of our society’s values and ethics,” said Sharlene Dempsey, the Amnesty Tas Refugee Rights Group Co-convenor
