The Liberal Government is committed to rebuilding the economy and boosting business confidence.

The latest National Australia Bank Business Survey is evidence we are well on our way to achieving this.

Tasmania is now leading the nation in business and employment conditions, and current and expected employment.

We are also bucking the national trend with positive indicators for future business and employment in Tasmania.

This is a rapid turnaround in key business indicators, which have clearly made a significant U-turn for the better since our Government was elected in March.

The key findings include:

• Business conditions are the best of any state or territory, rising 14 points since the last survey in the quarter to March;
• Business conditions for the next 12-months are the highest of all states and territories; and
• Employment and expected employment are the highest in the country after a steep rise since March.

The Liberal Government is helping to build confidence and create jobs and growth with our initiatives including the abolition of headworks charges, introducing a single state-wide planning system, the local benefits test for government tender and cutting red and green tape.

There is still a long way to go, but this is a very encouraging report.
