Come along to Parliament Lawns TODAY (Thursday 26th June) at 12:30 pm to show opposition to the Liberal government’s new anti-protest laws.

Dress in black.

Today (Thursday 26th june) a bill will be debated in parliament in Hobart to the detriment of our rights to protest and stand up for what we believe in Tasmania.

The workplaces ( protection from protesters) bill will be put forward by our right wing conservative minister Paul Harris.

The bill aims to silence Tasmanians and take away our democratic right to peacefully protest during a time when our voices are needed most loud and clear.

If this bill is passed we could see on-the-spot fines of thousands of dollars and mandatory jail terms for those standing up for Tasmania.

We do not want to see an assault on our natural places, our forests and our oceans.

We will be congregating outside parliament holding a vigil to show dissent for this archaic and oppressive bill being debated.

Come and join us, bring your views, anger, frustration, emotion and voices to the place where decisions are made.

The franklin would have been damned if it was not for community descent, the Upper Florentine forests would now be a series of clearfells if there had not been people willing to stand in front of the bulldozers.

Groundswell is a grassroots direct action group fighting for the protection of Tasmania’s natural environment.

Help us send a message loud and clear that this fascist government will not silence the Tasmanian people.
