Tasmanian salmon producer Tassal is to be congratulated for its work in replacing all of its copper treated nets with a more environmentally sensitive alternative.
The achievement is detailed in the release today of Tassal’s third Sustainability Report, which represents its strong commitment to meaningful community engagement and transparency.
Tassal’s $10 million investment in Kikko nets, made from polyester monofilament, is a major step forward for the environmental sustainability of salmon farming.
For the first time, its 2013 Sustainability Report includes all aspects of Tassal’s business, including its processing operations.
The Liberal Government’s vision is to double the value of Tasmania’s salmon industry to $1 billion by 2030.
The sustainable growth of Tassal, and other salmon producers, is critical if we are to achieve our goal and create more jobs.
