Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon has welcomed today’s news that the state’s economy continues to grow.

Australian Bureau of Statistics state final demand figures reveal the economy grew in trend terms by 0.5 per cent in the March quarter.

“This fourth consecutive quarter of growth for Tasmania is warmly welcomed by the Labor Party,” Mr Bacon said.

“This news validates the measures undertaken by Labor were and are working to turn around the state’s economy.

“It’s positive news and Labor will not talk down the Tasmanian economy from opposition.

“After their extravagant election promises the Liberals must now put in the hard yards to make sure the recent trend of growth in Tasmania’s economy continues.”
