Labor Leader Bryan Green today repeated the call for transparency over appointments to the new Planning Reform Taskforce.

When asked to provide simple facts around the establishment of the taskforce, Premier Will Hodgman yesterday said:

“It’s not the Government’s job to get into that sort of detail.”

“This is an extraordinary response from the person who’s supposed to be running the state,” Mr Green said.

“This is not the approach Will Hodgman promised when he said he’d lead an open and transparent government.

“Now he’s not prepared to outline the facts around one of his central policy announcements.

“A month ago we also lodged a straight forward Right to Information request asking for details of when the position of chair was advertised, how many CVs were lodged and how many people were interviewed.

“In the interests of transparency, Will Hodgman should answer these simple questions.

“The Liberals promised to cut boards and committees but since coming to office they have only established new ones.

“Tasmanians are entitled to know how much these new boards are costing.”
