Tasmania’s Festival of Voices will celebrate its milestone 10th anniversary with 10-days of unique events that have made Australia’s only annual festival of choirs a cultural drawcard for the state.
Last year’s festival attracted more than 2000 visitors to Tasmania with the majority of the 87 events sold out.
I am sure this year’s festival will achieve similar success.
Tourism is worth $2.4 billion to the Tasmanian economy and we have a vision to expand it even further.
We will grow our tourism industry to 1.5 million visitors by 2020 which the industry tells us represents an additional 8000 jobs.
Key to achieving that goal is a season of Tasmanian winter festivals, which begins with the Dark Mofo on June 12, followed by Festival of Voices in early July and continues with the Tasmanian Open Dancesport Championships and the Junction Arts Festival, both in Launceston.
The Festival of Voices runs from July 4 to July 13. Further information is available from the festival website: www.festivalofvoices.com
