The soon to be established Department of State Growth will aggressively pursue jobs and investment opportunities for Tasmania.

The recruitment process is now underway for the crucial role of leading the Department of State Growth, which will begin operating from July I this year.

The new department is being formed by the amalgamation of the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources and sections of the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts.
Importantly, State Growth will oversee the key economic drivers in Tasmania of infrastructure, energy, forestry, mining and economic development.

The State Growth portfolio will also incorporate the new Office of the Coordinator-General which will provide a single point of contact for businesses interested in investing in Tasmania, facilitate major projects and deliver on our commitment to reduce red and green tape by 20 percent.

Recruitment for the Coordinator-General role is already underway.

The new Department of State Growth Secretary will have a critical leadership role in delivering the Liberal Government’s plan to grow the economy, attract investment, create much needed new jobs and support small business.

The role is being advertised in Tasmanian and national newspapers.
