This well- loved community event offers participants of any age and artistic skill level an opportunity to get creative with discarded and re-use waste materials. The Opening night entertainment, promises to inspire, with a performance of music by Cosmos created on materials collected from Resource’s South Hobart tip-shop.

The exhibition engages with people to re-think waste in many ways, through the quirky & educational to the aesthetically beautiful transformations of salvaged materials into works of art. There is a real thrill seeing the public’s reaction to the artworks, quite simply it makes people happy!
The confidence it inspires in younger & emerging artists to be exhibiting in the Long Gallery at the Salamanca Art centre alongside established artists creates an inclusive energy that we can all be part of. Whilst we are delighted to celebrate individual imagination and creativity, the heart & soul of the exhibition lies in the unique collective of like-minded participants and visitors who are passionate about re-use ideas, diverse every-day materials being utilized in diverse re-purposed ways. Definitely not a whole load of rubbish, more-so, a wealth of not wasted! Every year we are amazed by the inventive resourcefulness of people.
Artists can sell their work and last year, the HCC purchased a number of sculptural works as part of the Public Art program, they have been installed at Councils new Waste Management facility at the McRobbie’s Gully site, operated by Resource Work Cooperative. To find out more about Resource Cooperative a Not For Profit social enterprise please visit www.resource.coop better still, visit our Tip shop in South Hobart or our Collectable Shop www.facebook.com/collectables in Elizabeth St. A wealth of materials to fulfil any artistic or DIY project.
