The Tasmanian Greens Leader Nick McKim MP, today issued his final pitch to the voters before the Tasmanian State Election.
“Tasmania is on the cusp of a remarkable future,” said Mr McKim.
“It’s a future based on the things that make Tasmania such a special place, and it will be based on creating jobs and prosperity by using our natural competitive advantages, and building on our strengths.”
“We have clean air, abundant clean water, fertile soils, renewable energy, spectacular wilderness and coastlines, cool climate, a GE free status, forest carbon, liveable cities and towns, a small and close knit island community, and the most advanced fibre optic rollout in Australia.”
“The key is to boldly promote all this to the world.”
“We already do it in tourism, and we should be doing it for all of our produce and products that are genuinely world class.”
“Jobs are being created in the digital economy, the creative economy, the knowledge economy and, of course, in tourism.”
“But if we want to build on this, we have to make smart decisions and we have to look after our people along with our precious natural assets.”
“We can’t do it by going back to the past, because the future is there for the taking.”
“There is no doubt that this election is about change for Tasmania. But it must be genuine change, and only the Greens are offering that.”
