Presented by Ten Days in association with Strut & Fret
In an exciting new collaboration, Ten Days is partnering with TasPride to present a range of fabulous
performances and a community fun day on Sunday, 16 March as part of Hobart’s Spiegeltent festivities, to
be held on the forecourt of Princes Wharf No.1.
TasPride President Dr Bec Dorgelo said The Vaudevillians featuring Jinkx Monsoon, as well as Mojo Juju
and Miz Ima Starr, were sure to have audiences of all backgrounds celebrating through music and
comedy.
“Collaborating with Ten Days as part of the Spiegeltent extravaganza is a fantastic opportunity for
TasPride and a wonderful way to celebrate the Tasmanian LGBTI community,” Dr Dorgelo said.
“Festivities will kick off with Jinkx Monsoon, who will make her Australian debut in the five-times
extended, off-Broadway hit, The Vaudevillians.
“Originating from the USA and the 2013 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, taking home the title of America’s
Next Drag Superstar, Jinkx Monsoon and co-star Major Scales are sure to have audiences singing along to
the classics in between fits of laughter, with the perfect mix of comedy and cabaret.
“Frozen alive in a 1920s freak accident, the duo comes back with a vengeance to reclaim their original
song hits. They are fed up with modern day artists taking credit for their creative talent!”
Dr Dorgelo said also stepping inside the Spiegeltent was Mojo Juju on Saturday, 15 March singing her
songs that sound like the night you can’t quite remember, in that bar you swear you weren’t at, with that
girl you promise you’ve never met.
“Inspired by the likes of Pachuco Boogie, Rock ‘n’ Roll and a little bit of Bump and Grind, audiences should
make a late-night date with Mojo Juju and get in the mood for a different kind of spectacle,” she said.
“Capping off the Spiegeltent TasPride community and family day on Sunday, 16 March in a blaze of
outrageous costumes is the lovely Miz Ima Starr, who is defined as big voiced, with a bust and personality
to match.
“She is a singing, wisecracking cabaret phenomenon, who will take audiences on a non-stop thrill ride,
and attending Miz Ima Starr’s spectacle will be the perfect way to wave goodbye to the Spiegeltent
TasPride festivities.”
Dr Bec Dorgelo said on Sunday 16 March, the final day of the TasPride weekend, Tasmanians were
encouraged to come along and bring their friends, kids, parents and grandparents to the Spiegeltent
Outdoor Lounge and celebrate all things queer in a fun and family friendly atmosphere.
“We will have a range of community art activities, including interactive selfie opportunities, and they’re all
FREE!” she said.
“In addition to the interactive TasPride art piece there will also be a pop-up restaurant from Smolt, Greek
cuisine, gourmet burgers, bubbling Jansz and Clover Hill, fine wines from Domaine A, as well as cool
Cascade for all to enjoy in the Outdoor Lounge.
“With all the entertainment and delicious food and beverages on offer, this promises to be a fabulous
weekend and one not to be missed.”
