The Tasmanian Greens responded to comments by environment groups today by saying that the only threat to the Tasmanian Forest Agreement is Liberal Leader Will Hodgman.
Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that Mr Hodgman’s threat will take Tasmania back into the past when we desperately need to move into the future.
“It’s now clear that Mr Hodgman’s threat to rip up the TFA will not only cost jobs, but it will be his own choice to take Tasmania back to the conflicts of the past,” said Mr McKim.
“Tasmania desperately needs to keep moving into the future, and only Mr Hodgman’s selfish political ambition stands in the way.”
“This is the acid test of Mr Hodgman’s leadership. Is he prepared to rip up peace in the forests for his own political self interest?”
“With unemployment down significantly today, we see that business confidence is boosted by a community in harmony.”
“A return to the dark days of conflict and division is the biggest threat to job creation in Tasmania.”
