The Tasmanian Greens today announced a $15.5 million plan to drive continued growth in the Tasmanian tourism industry.
Greens Leader Nick McKim said the additional investment would deliver significant boost to the promotion of Tasmania’s world class tourism assents, and build capacity in the industry to deal with increasing visitor numbers.
“Tasmania has a world class tourism product, and the Greens have an ambitious plan to promote our state around the country and across the globe,” Mr McKim said.
“Our $10 million investment in tourism marketing is in addition to the $12.2 million we have already announced to promote Tasmanian products around the world.”
“The Greens will allocate $2-million dollars to partner with the private sector to develop a promotion centre for Tasmania’s World Heritage Area and National Parks.”
“This will enable promotion of Tasmania’s World Heritage Area and National Parks, and provide an interactive wilderness experience for short-stay visitors.”
“Our total investment of $22.2 million to sing Tasmania’s praises to the world will turbo-charge the state’s tourism and export sectors.”
“We will also invest in building capacity in the industry, including assistance with accreditation and upgrading public facilities for people visiting Tasmania.”
