FESTIVAL OF VOICES — VOICEBOX — MOFO — SPIEGEL TENT — AND NOW…
The Tasmanian Cabaret Festival!
Produced in partnership with Allison Farrow and dell’Arte Productions, The Tasmanian Cabaret Festival is a Festival of Voices initiative, new to Hobart and Tasmania, established to become more part of the Australian and International cabaret circuit. Since raising the idea of the Tasmanian Cabaret Festival a few weeks ago, we’ve already been invited to judge the International Cabaret Concert alongside Torben Brookman (Producer of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival), Kris Stewart (Director, Brisbane Powerhouse) and David Read (Director, Melbourne Cabaret Festival). Being part of this circuit means the winner of the Grand Finale will perform in Hobart and it opens the gate for more Tasmanian artists to perform nationally and internationally and draw more artists here from interstate and overseas.
Submissions for the inaugural Tasmanian Cabaret Festival (2014) are now open.
In its first year, to provide context and maximise marketing opportunities, The Tasmanian Cabaret Festival will be couched neatly within the Festival of Voices as part of its internationally renowned Voicebox series. Dates for the Tasmanian Cabaret Festival will be Monday July 7th and Tuesday July 8th. The venue will be City Hall dressed in velvet lining as Voicebox. Selection is not guaranteed. This is a curated festival and, though we aim to be inclusive, submissions are an expression of interest only.
