“Back-off’ and listen to the people

“Enough is enough of the green social reform agenda in our state. Tasmanians are fed up. They want the government to focus on jobs and the economy, said Guy Barnett, spokesperson for the Save Marriage Coalition today.

“The last thing Tasmanians want is to re-debate an already debated and defeated Bill.

“The push for same-sex marriage was rejected at the recent federal election, at last year’s Legislative Council elections, in the Legislative Council last year and again yesterday.

“The Tasmanian people have sent the same-sex marriage proponents a message. “Back-off”. Any further push for same-sex marriage is arrogant and confirms they are not listening to the people.

“It’s time to draw a line in the sand. It’s time to move on.

If Labor, the Greens or the gay lobby want another debate we are prepared to defend marriage and the right of our children to have both a mother and a father.

We are ready to fight against this green agenda in any community, with anybody, on any day, whether it is in the lead up to the state election or anytime in the future.

“Marriage is a bedrock institution between a man and woman worthy of protection, concluded Mr Barnett.
