About the winner:
Bulgarian born, I moved to Australia almost 20 years ago and made Sydney my home. I brought with me a Masters Degree in Philology and Masters Degree in Science of Dramatic Art at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Art in Sofia. I had also worked as a journalist with the national newspaper 24 Hours and as a news editor with the Channel COMM radio stations network. In Australia my job adventures were with Macquarie Bank, Southern Star Entertainment (lots of fun!), legal companies, architects and designers. However, throughout this period, I always remained true to my first love – storytelling. Whether it was in the form of the written word, stage performance or visual narrating, I have accumulated a lifetime of knowledge about world culture and art and now, through photography, I have found a way of expressing my stories visually. The art of photography is more than just documenting the obvious. I see it as a way of conveying feelings, as a way of taking my audience to different places of emotions. I live in Sydney with my husband Daniel and our two little daughters Apollonia and Amadea.
