The Deputy Premier Bryan Green today completedly rejected Mr Ian Goninon’s version of events in relation to an incident at Saturday’s AFL grand final at the MCG.
“It is always regrettable when an individual’s behaviour spoils other people’s enjoyment of any event,” Mr Green said.
“I and the people around me just wanted to enjoy a great game of football.
“Unfortunately, as many witnesses would be able to confirm, I was subjected to constant heckling by Mr Goninon both before and during the game, despite asking him twice to stop so he didn’t ruin the day for other spectators.
“I therefore completely reject Mr Goninon’s public statements today in relation to his behaviour.”
“While I did eventually have to get up from my seat and ask him bluntly to settle down, I reject any suggestion that I punched Mr Goninon.
“I’ve sought legal advice in relation to Mr Goninon’s claims on ABC Radio this morning,” Mr Green said.
