Around 200 Tasmanians will attend a workshop in Hobart on Saturday, to discover how to be
healthy while living with diabetes.
The workshop will include presentations from a Diabetes Educator, a Dietitian with the
highlight to be a live cooking demonstration by local chef, Paul Foreman.
Diabetes Tasmania CEO, Caroline Wells is delighted that the workshop will be so well attended.
“We’re thrilled that Tasmanians are taking the opportunity to learn how to be as healthy as
possible while living with a chronic condition” Ms Wells said.
“Diabetes can be a complicated, ever-changing condition that is primarily self-managed, so it’s
important that people learn how to adapt their lifestyle.
“There are over 25,500 Tasmanians living with all types of diabetes, and more than 22,000 of
them have type 2. Type 2 is largely preventable by adopting a healthy lifestyle, eating a
balanced diet and getting regular exercise.
“Living Well with Diabetes, is aimed at people with all types of diabetes, including pre-diabetes,
though everyone can benefit from the workshop.”
Registrations for the Living Well with Diabetes event can still be made up until 12pm Friday by
phoning Diabetes Tasmania on 1300 136 588. The cost to attend the event is $15, but is free for
Diabetes Tasmania members.
