… LIBERALS REJECT CONTROVERSIAL DEVELOPMENT

The Tasmanian Greens Member for Bass Kim Booth MP today said that the future of Georgetown’s historic Regent Square was now in the hands of the Liberals to publicly commit to supporting the push to protect the site from the controversial construction.

“Labor has been particularly arrogant and slippery over Regent Square and appear determined to ride roughshod over the community wishes,” said Mr Booth.

“The community have clearly spoken that they want a Child and Family centre but they don’t want it on Regent Square.”

“The Greens have tabled motions in the House, which if passed would effectively stop the construction on Regent Square and force Minister Michelle O’Byrne to use an alternative site.”

“We know Labor won’t support it so all we need now is a commitment from the Liberals to oppose this development in Regent Square and the job is done.”
