Palmer United Federal Candidate for Franklin Marti Zucco said today “Yet again our political leaders give us political spin leading up to an Election”
Referring to the Prime Ministers announcement in Launceston whereby “the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has outlined details of a $100 million jobs and growth plan for Tasmania”
Regional Services Minister Catherine King said the “new money and new projects” were contingent on the Tasmanian Forest Agreement.
Marti Zucco further pointed out that “The $1.65 Million dollar South Hobart Community hub funding resulted from lobbying by the Federal Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie MP on behalf of the South Hobart community represented by the South Hobart Progress Association and Living Arts Centre proponent Dr Neil Cameron.
This was announced by made by the then Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP on 12 June 2013. This is in essence the same announcement. For the Prime Minister to now say that it is “Part of a Rudd V13 election promise is simply spin” and I refer to Mr Rudds comments in, “This is making clear which additional projects we are funding by name,” Mr Rudd said.
This comment implies that the projects listed under the Rudds $100 million Jobs Growth Plan were additional projects but yet have already been announced prior to his elevation to Prime Minister so they are “clearly” not additional, merely rehashing old news and that is concerning to say the least.
It is the typical Election pork barrelling merry go round of Political spin and ultimately “false promises” that we are fed just before an Election that ends up in the “forgotten pile” in the aftermath”
I am positively sure that it is the current labor Government that has made many promises in the past and failed to deliver does it matter that the “labor power brokers” have photo shopped the leader it’s still the same old “group” yes that same old song playing at 78 speed.
How many times are we going to be hoodwinked in believing the same old “blah blah at election time and the game changes immediately after? If Kevin Rudd is not being upfront with the 1.65 million dollar funding and calling it “additional funding” when it’s very clear that it’s not and the champion for it was Andrew Wilkie, some 6 weeks ago then how can we believe the rest of the spin”
Marti Zucco also said that “It is also my understanding that the Government had also announced funding for other projects some time ago and never mentioned any association with the forest peace deal. The money wasn’t conditional then and it shouldn’t be now so these funds should be funded regardless of any forest agreement or other factors”
Ultimately “new Money and new Jobs” should NOT be based on the forest agreement alone, the Federal Government should deliver jobs for Tasmanians irrespectively and not conditional” it’s like saying to all Tasmanians that we all have to agree with the forest agreement and jump the hoop before we are given an opportunity to have a job” poor form in my book. If this is about new money and new jobs, then the funding should be just that”
“My clear message is that the Forest agreement funds should firstly be directed to those communities that have been heavily impacted, we all have been fooled too many times in the past so don’t be fooled by the current roll of the dice by Rudd version 13 election mode pork barrelling and political spin.
