It’s the final weekend to experience MONA’s first large-scale public art exhibition, ‘Beam In Thine Own Eye’, open Friday until Sunday at Macquarie Wharf Shed No.1 (MAC1, Hunter Street, Hobart), Friday to Sunday from noon until 7pm. Seeing is believing. Or doubting. Just see it. Entry is $5. www.darkmofo.net.au/program/beam-in-thine-own-eye
The Red Queen
Wednesdays to Mondays, 10am – 5pm
MONA’s major exhibition for the year, ‘The Red Queen’, is an assemblage of major commissions, exciting art loans and yet-unseen works from David Walsh’s collection. The idea behind the exhibition is “art that explores why art is made”. Is art necessary to human survival and evolution? Whatever you decide, it’s a lot of fun. Take the kids – there’s a noisy trampoline and a room with 40 TVs. Entry is $20 (free for Tasmanian residents and under-16’s). www.mona.net.au
