On 5 July 2013, the Tasmanian Government released a draft Tasmanian Coastal Policy Statement for public comment as a key step in developing a Coastal Protection and Planning Framework.
The full Framework – which will comprise the Policy Statement and an Implementation Plan – will provide a blueprint for the long term planning and management of the State’s coast and is due to be completed by the end of 2013.
The draft Coastal Policy Statement proposes a long-term vision for Tasmania’s coast, along with the key goals, policy directions and principles for decision making and action.
Key stakeholders and interested members of the community are invited to have their say to help ensure that future coastal policy reflects the priorities and issues that need to be addressed now and into the future.
