The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, has responded to the Labor Party’s latest ridiculous accusation that he’s somehow associated with the Liberal Party.
“I’ve repeatedly ruled out doing any deals with any party at or after the next federal election, and for the Labor Party to continue to say I’m somehow associated with the Liberal Party is breathtakingly dishonest,” Mr Wilkie said.
“I pledge my loyalty to no political party and approach every issue on its merits, something the political parties don’t do and don’t seem to understand.
“This latest smear is intended to distract the community from the fact that the Labor Party has not ruled out doing preference deals with the Liberals and Greens in Denison, as much as try and diminish my good name.
“Frankly the community is sick and tired of politicians lying and smearing other politicians. No wonder so many people have no time any more for politics, politicians and the political parties.
“Why the Liberal Party haven’t yet found a Denison candidate is a question for them.”
