The Tasmanian Greens today joined the celebration of the Salvation Army’s “Vintage Tee Day”, by donning their favourite vintage threads to celebrate sustainable fashion.
Greens Environment spokesperson Cassy O’Connor MP commended the Salvation Army on their efforts to promote sustainability and recycling, as well as conservation within the community by promoting ‘vintage’ clothing.
“As the Salvation Army says, it takes 2,700 litres of water to produce just one cotton t-shirt. This is an extremely sobering statistic,” Ms O’Connor said.
“The Tasmanian Greens celebrate the popularity of op-shopping, because it not only helps the environment but raises funds for many local community organisations.”
“As an avid op-shopper myself, I encourage all Tasmanians to get behind ‘Vintage Tee Day’ and celebrate recycled fashion, the environment and the many Tasmanian community organisations this supports.”
