Farmers eligible for January 2013 bushfire damage assistance can now access two funding programs on the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) website.

Both are available to farmers who have received the Federal Government Clean-up and Assistance Grants for Primary Producers.

Under the first program, the State government has generously provided the TFGA with $100,000 from the statewide bushfire donations fund to help replace fences that were destroyed in the fires. Farmers who are eligible for the federal Tier 1 and Tier 2 grants will be able to apply for up to $200 per km of damaged fences.

The second program is funded from the TFGA Farmers’ Bushfire Donation Fund. This will provide further assistance to those that are eligible for the federal Tier 1 and Tier 2 grants.

In addition, the TFGA will also consider applications from other farms that have been affected by bushfires outside the formally declared areas (Sorell, Derwent Valley and Central Highlands) on a case-by-case basis. Some funds will also be directed to support a number of through-chain businesses (eg transporters) that made an enormous commitment to helping affected farmers in the immediate aftermath of the fires.

To access these funding programs, affected farmers should fill out the form that they can access at TFGA website (scroll to the bottom and click the tab ‘emergency bushfire assistance’) or call 6332 1800.
