Dear All
Last night the Development and Environmental Services Committee of Hobart City Council considered a report on representations received about the draft amendments to Battery Point and Sullivans Cove Planning Schemes.
Committee members had clearly read all the representations and had an interesting and informed discussion before unanimously deciding not to support the draft amendment.
This is an encouraging response – due in no small part to the quantity and quality of public representations – so let’s keep it up!
Next steps
As part of the amendment process the Council must consider the issues raised in public representations and make a recommendation to the Tasmanian Planning Commission to either approve, alter or reject the draft amendment.
Full Council will consider the report next Monday 30 July at 5pm and we hope they will endorse the Committee’s recommendation. The meeting is open to the public and you are encouraged to attend.
Agendas and meeting papers are posted four days before the meeting at http://www.hobartcity.com.au/Council/Council_Meetings
After that, the Tasmanian Planning Commission will consider the draft amendment, all submissions received and the Council’s recommendation. If you made a representation you will be contacted and asked if you wish to attend a hearing.
As the draft amendment has been lodged with the Tasmanian Planning Commission, the Commission is required by law to consider it.
A community meeting will be held in coming weeks to discuss representation at the Commission.
