Leadership, innovation and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety of workers are just some of
the attributes celebrated and rewarded at the annual WorkSafe Tasmania Awards, which are now
open for entries.
WorkSafe Tasmania campaign spokesperson Robert Gozzi said the WorkSafe Awards recognised the
important work that organisations and individuals undertook every day to make work health and
safety a top priority.
“Whether you’re Tasmania’s smallest or largest company, if you have created an innovative solution
to a safety problem, or developed a program to create a healthier and happier workplace, then the
WorkSafe Tasmania Awards are a great way to have your efforts recognised,” Mr Gozzi said.
“The Awards also offer an opportunity to be recognised at a national level, with last year’s small
business category winner, Briar Maritime Services, receiving a Highly Commended Award at the
recent Safe Work Australia Awards presented in Canberra.”
The WorkSafe Tasmania Award categories for 2012 are:
1. Best workplace health and safety management system
2. Best solution to an identified workplace health and safety issue
3. Best workplace health and safety practice/s in a small business
4. Best individual contribution to workplace health and safety
5. Best injury management and return-to-work system
6. Best ‘new worker’ program
7. Best workplace health and wellbeing program.
The winners of the first four categories of the Awards are automatically entered into the national
Safe Work Australia Awards.
Entries close at 5pm on Friday, 6 July 2012, with winners to be announced at a gala presentation
dinner at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Saturday, 3 November 2012.
