The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie which opened in the West End of London in 1952, and has been running continuously since then with over 24,500 performances so far. It is the longest running show (of any type) of the modern era. The play is also known for its twist ending, which at the end of every performance the audience is asked not to reveal.
Until very recently outside of the West End, only one version of the play could be performed annually. In this the 60th anniversary year of The Mousetrap, there has been a limited release of the Amateur rights of the show. Hobart Repertory Theatre Society is delighted to be presenting this classic play for the first time in Hobart in June this year.
With the production shrouded in secrecy and wrapped in performance restrictions “The Mousetrap” being staged in Hobart by The Hobart Repertory Society is something of a coup. Director Ingrid Ganley is overwhelmed by ticket sales to date.
Ingrid is no stranger to Hobart Rep audiences and most recently directed the side splitting show Noises Off and prior to that Black Coffee an Agatha Christie HerculePoirot mystery.
The Mousetrap features local actors Jared Goldsmith, Aidan Furst, Kathy Spencer, Mike Edwards, Sarah Phillips, Jeff Keogh, David Bannister and introducing Eleanor Morgan.
The Mousetrap will be at the Playhouse from May 25th to June 9th. Tickets are on sale now at Centertainment phone 6234 5998 or visitwww.centertainment.com.au to book!
