Dear Tasmanians and friends beyond our shores,
Secession time is as ripe as the early winter harvest of chestnuts or the late autumn apples ready to fall. If the chestnuts or apples are not protected or collected, charismatic but destructive birds like the white cockatoos are likely to wreak havoc, damage the trees, take all for themselves and leave none for the families in need.
Our home, Tasmania, has and is being threatened in so many ways by those who do not and cannot understand how to treat this precious Island. I am putting a gentle call out for unity, for love and for independent control over our jewel in the Southern Ocean.
A wise woman does not give her heart away to anyone, she protects and nurtures her heart in ways no other person can understand, she shares the goodness and love contained within but holds her heart firmly where it belongs …
This jewel is as precious as our hearts and we would be wise to handle this island with care, holding it safe and nurturing all its wonderful resources in the way Tasmanians’ know best – with love …
Tasmanians young and old know how to manage our precious resources and the enlightened ones know how to share. Those who do not are welcome to be guided lovingly by others to join in the secession or leave the island where they will see the change from afar … they are welcome to return at any time when their contributions are for the common good.
An independent Tasmania will have a strong Island Economy, distributing the wealth to this and future generations. Implementing import/export tariffs on all goods, sustainable management of primary resources and value adding at all levels are just a few of the myriad of options available.
Indigenous, local and international knowledge will assist with the transition; the sky is the limit as far as positive outcomes for Tasmanians. In time, fair, egalitarian decision making, referendums and other Deliberative and Direct Democracy strategies can be implemented.
A healthy democracy, strong economy and inspired enlivened Tasmanians are only a few of the benefits just over the horizon.
May the great hearts and minds of the Island come together to seek the outcomes we share by just being Tasmanian.
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent,
but rather the one most adaptable to change.

Preparing for the change and looking forward to revelling in the outcomes …

P.S. The Australian Constitution reportedly needs changing to enable secession – legislation made for the people, to be changed by the people. Oh and apologies to all white cockatoos – just leave my apple trees and chestnuts alone and we will all be happy!
