In conjunction with Australians Studying Abroad (ASA), we’re hosting two antiquities lectures at MONA on Wednesday
March 21.
A Tale of Two Islands: Cyprus and Crete in the Bronze Age
Dr Don Evely – curator, Minoan palace site, Knossos, at the British School of Athens.
A Layered Past: Reading the Landscapes of Cyprus and Turkey
Dr Erin Gibson, archaeologist, University of Northern British Columbia.
Have you seen MONA’s 3000-year-old octopus coffin? The Minoan Larnax from the ancient Bronze Age kingdom of
Knossos on Crete? Have you ever wondered how the eastern Mediterranean’s two largest islands, geographically and
historically similar in many ways, came to be so different, if so, these lectures are for you.
Find out why Cyprus and Crete’s contemporary societies evolved as they have.
